German aircrew
WINKLEMANN Herman & PRECHT Rudolf – It is believed that it was a JU88 from the 3/KG77 group was shot down at 09:30 over Felbridge on the 27th September 1940 after being attacked by fighters. Three of the crew were killed. Winkelmann, Kasing and Precht with the fourth Braeutigan taken prisoner. It hit the roof of North End Lodge by Simpsons garage.
Winklemann and Precht were buried in Mount Noddy although they were exhumed in 1962 and moved to Cannock Chase as was Kasing (additional crew member) although it is not known where he was previously buried. A fourth crew member by the name of Braeutigan was taken prisoner.
