Amenities and Tourism

This committee is responsible for the direction of the work of the Tourism officers of the Town Council, promoting the town and the attractions therein. Leisure events are also considered by this committee such as the arrangements to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The committee also looks after the amenities side; these are the buildings and other assets that are owned by the Town Council. The use and maintenance of these properties including the income generated from them. The Town Council has several buildings that it owns and also two graveyards, a recreation ground, clocks, allotments, war memorials, public seats, notice boards and bus shelters.

This Committee also oversees the councils commercial activities; some from the use of the assets and others through contract works for Mid Sussex and West Sussex Councils. East Grinstead Town Council clears graffiti and looks after some of the highway maintenance jobs such as signpost cleaning and weed spraying.
