Community and Tourism Manager
Full time Monday – Friday – 37 hours per week (including some weekend work)
Starting salary dependent on qualification and experience. A successful external candidate will serve six months probation before moving to the permanent establishment dependent on successful performance.
Following a restructure as we emerge from the pandemic, an exciting vacancy for a strategic team leader to develop and grow the tourism and community services of the Council has arisen.
Applicants for this position must have clear strategic and practical thinking, an inclusive and encouraging management style and the willingness to pitch in. This small team has the chance to grow and become a significant leader in the development of services in the town addressing the needs for all residents. These services may not be run by the Council, but the liaison and promotion of them will ensure that the residents know how and where to seek appropriate support when they need it. There will also be direct service delivery such as growing our dementia friendly community through the safe places scheme delivering town events (such as the existing popular East Court Live concerts, sporting and Christmas events) and developing other positive community initiatives.
Alongside the community development work, this role also leads the Tourism initiative. East Grinstead Town Council, in partnership with West Sussex County Council and Mid Sussex District Council deliver the face to face tourism advice service based at the Library, develop literature to promote the town building on our medieval High St, our Jacobean alms house with John Mason Neale connections all the way through to World War 2 with the pioneering burns and reconstruction surgery carried out at the world famous Queen Victoria Hospital by Sir Archibald McIndoe and his Guinea Pig Club.
