THE roads in the centre of town will be closed between 10.30am and 11.30 am on Sunday for the Remembrance Day Service and parade.
THE parade will leave Little King Street at around 10.40am. The service at the High Street War Memorial will start at 10.55am.
On completion of the service around 11.20 the parade will march to Chequer Mead Car Park where they will disband.
At the discretion of marshalls, depending on when the parade is passing the end of the roads, cars turning out of Cantelupe Road can turn left on to the High Street heading towards Church Lane/ Lewes Road.
Cars turning out of Portland Road can turn right towards Lewes road.
There will be no other access and no through road for the High Street.
London Road will be closed between Kings Street and Ship Street.
Cars leaving Judges Terrace may turn left towards West Hill/ Ship Street but not proceed towards High Street or London Road.
Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for all the community to remember the Fallen, especially in this, the 100th anniversary year, of the outbreak of the Great War.
Please respect the marshalls instructions for this one hour.
Town Clerk Julie Holden said: “A big thank you to East Grinstead Lions, East Grinstead Rotary, East Grinstead (Meridian) Rotary, S Robertshaw and M Groat and East Grinstead Town Council staff for volunteering to man the road closure and help with crowd liaison. Also to all the groups and volunteers who are helping with the event in many different ways.”
This event is organised by the Royal British Legion (East Grinstead Branch) the Road Closure is co-ordinated by the Town Council.
