A crowd of about 150 gathered at the War Memorial in the High Street for the two minutes silence in Remembrance of the Fallen.
Zara Flora donated a wreath of red, white and blue flowers, including roses and poppies to mark the anniversary, which Town Mayor Hodges laid at the foot of the War Memorial.

RECORD numbers of people turned out for the Remembrance Day Service and Parade held at the High Street War memorial this morning.
The simple service was led by the Rev Clive Everett-Allen of St Swithun’s.
Town Mayor Nick Hodges laid a wreath on behalf the the Town Council and the people of East Grinstead, followed by representatives of community groups and organisations.
As Don Cooper read out the names of those remembered on the War Memorial during the wreath-laying, the sun came out.
Proudly on parade too, alongside members of the armed forces, the police and civil emergency services, was Ron Woolley the standard bearer for the British Legion, who was at the Royal Albert Hall yesterday for the annual Poppy Day service.

TOWN Mayor Nick Hodges was right to smile last night as he presided over his charity quiz night at the Meridian Hall.
Every ticket had been sold and the proceeds benefited the two charities Nick has chosen to support during his mayoral year – the town museum and CRY, the charity researching cardiac arrest in young people.
Victory- and bragging rights – in the quiz, which had been put together by Chequer Mead manager Pete Jenkins, went to the Peanutters.
“We had a great night, delicious food and fabulous questions,” said Nick, thanking everyone who had come to support his fundraiser and everyone who had helped organise the quiz.
He then announced that his next event will be a murder/mystery night with a fish and chip supper on 30 January.

WEST Sussex County Council’s Young People Serviceis looking to recruit volunteers (over 21 years old) to help support young people who are not in education, training and employment or are at risk of offending behaviour. There are a variety of volunteer roles available and the Council provides training and on-going support for all these roles.
They are particularly interested in looking for Appropriate Adults to support young people in custody to safeguard their rights and welfare, and will be running the training for this role shortly.
They also use volunteers in Reparation, working alongside young people whilst they do their community payback: Referral Order Panel members, ensuring young people take responsibility for their crimes: Find It Out Shop volunteers supporting young people with advice and guidance and a variety of roles supporting group work with the Youth Service, in particular with young carers and young people with learning difficulties or additional needs.

THE roads in the centre of town will be closed between 10.30am and 11.30 am on Sunday for the Remembrance Day Service and parade.
THE parade will leave Little King Street at around 10.40am. The service at the High Street War Memorial will start at 10.55am.
On completion of the service around 11.20 the parade will march to Chequer Mead Car Park where they will disband.
At the discretion of marshalls, depending on when the parade is passing the end of the roads, cars turning out of Cantelupe Road can turn left on to the High Street heading towards Church Lane/ Lewes Road.
Cars turning out of Portland Road can turn right towards Lewes road.
There will be no other access and no through road for the High Street.
London Road will be closed between Kings Street and Ship Street.
Cars leaving Judges Terrace may turn left towards West Hill/ Ship Street but not proceed towards High Street or London Road.
Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for all the community to remember the Fallen, especially in this, the 100th anniversary year, of the outbreak of the Great War.
Please respect the marshalls instructions for this one hour.

This event is organised by the Royal British Legion (East Grinstead Branch) the Road Closure is co-ordinated by the Town Council.
