Volunteers needed to help youngsters at risk

WEST Sussex County Council’s Young People Serviceis  looking to recruit volunteers (over 21 years old) to help support young people who are not in education, training and employment or are at risk of offending behaviour.  There are a variety of volunteer roles available and the Council provides training and on-going support for all these roles.

They are particularly interested in looking for Appropriate Adults to support young people in custody to safeguard their rights and welfare, and will be running the training for this role shortly.

They also use volunteers in Reparation, working alongside young people whilst they do their community payback: Referral Order Panel members, ensuring young people take responsibility for their crimes: Find It Out Shop volunteers supporting young people with advice and guidance and a variety of roles supporting group work with the Youth Service, in particular with young carers and young people with learning difficulties or additional needs.
