Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service – Sunday 9th November 2025
East Grinstead will come together to honour and remember those who gave their lives in service at this year’s Armistice Day commemorations.
The day will begin with a short gathering at 10:00am at the WW2 memorial at East Court, where the Town Mayor and the Royal British Legion will lay wreaths. The Last Post will be played to mark the start of the day of remembrance.
Parade & service schedule
- 10:30am: Parade groups assemble in King Street, organised by the Parade Master.
- 10:45am: The East Grinstead Concert Band will lead the parade along the High Street to the war memorial, joined by St Swithun’s choir and vicar just before 11am.
- 11:00am: A remembrance service will take place, including a two minute’s silence and the reading of the names of fallen soldiers.
- Dignitaries, including a Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex, will lay wreaths alongside parade groups.
- After the service: The parade will continue along the High Street, finishing at Chequer Mead Car Park at around 11:30am.
Road closures
The High Street and London Road will be closed from 10:15am to 12:00 noon. Poppies will mark the parade route, and notices will be displayed two weeks in advance. Motorists are kindly asked to follow diversion signs and marshal directions.
Free parking
Mid Sussex District Council have confirmed that ‘All pay and display car parks in East Grinstead will be free from 9:00am to 1:00pm to support the parade’.

The Royal British Legion will be selling poppies in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Town Council warmly invites everyone to join this important day of remembrance, as we stand together to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who gave so much.
Remembrance Day – Tuesday 11th November 2025
At 11am on the 11th November there will be a 2 minute silence at the War Memorial on the High Street. All are welcome to attend. Please note there will be no road closures so please remain on the pavement.
