Purchase of Burial Plots

Full Earthen (Coffin) Plot

For a full earthen (coffin) interment a plot needs to be purchased in the first instance and this can be arranged with us by a Funeral Director on your behalf. Full earthen plots can be purchased for a term of 50 years, renewable upon expiry, and a deed will be issued to the purchaser.

The deed grants an Exclusive Right of Burial to the deedholder subject to the Cemetery Rules and Regulations. Please see the Table of Fees link in the sidebar which will take you to the Cemetery Fees and Charges along with the Rules and Regulations.

Please note there are Parishioner and Non-Parishioner fees and charges relating to the purchase of an Exclusive Right of Burial (which is for a term of 50 years).

For those residing outside the Parish of East Grinstead the Non-Parishioner fees will apply.

Full Earthen Plots cannot be pre-purchased.

Full Earthen – Interment

Instructions for an interment can only be taken from a living deedholder and this can be arranged by a Funeral Director on your behalf. Please note, as above, there are Parishioner and Non-Parishioner fees and charges relating to the interment fee.

For those residing outside the Parish of East Grinstead the Non-Parishioner fees will apply.

Please note – A grave space, subject to the Exclusive Right of Burial, may normally be expected to allow one, two or three interments (sometimes more if this includes interment of ashes). However, soil or ground conditions may occasionally dictate otherwise, in which case a lesser number of interments will be authorised. The Council will not accept liability or responsibility in any way should the number of interments authorised for a grave space be less than the number proposed or intended by the owner.
