East Grinstead will be commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day with a community event from 6pm at King George’s Field (next to the Kings Centre RH19 3LH).
The evening will start with a community picnic. There will be a Fish and Chip van, a fruit crumble and hot chocolate van, a bar and an ice cream van. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic. While you are eating there will be music of the era being played and old fashioned garden games to enjoy.
There will be various interest stalls such as a war memorabilia stall, East Grinstead Museum, Armed Forces Veteran Breakfast club and Poppy Art UK.
There will be a Children’s D-day themed trail.
From 8.15pm the BBC commentary from Normandy will be broadcast over speakers.
At 9.15pm the Town Mayor will, with the support of East Grinstead Community Bonfire, light the beacon. We will also be joined at the beacon by Royal British Legion and East Grinstead 1343 Cadets.

Please walk if you can otherwise there is parking at the Kings Centre. You will need to go into reception to register your car.
