Gallery of VE Day pictures

THE town centre was crammed with people of all generations at a Street Party organised by the Town Council to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day yesterday.

Families with young children arrived early for magic and ice creams and as the youngsters drifted off to bed older revellers enjoyed The Spinettes and The ConChord Big Band on what was a special day in a very special town.

Death of former Mayoress Dot Joyce-Nelson

IT is with great sadness that the Town Council has learned of the death of Dot Joyce-Nelson, wife of 2006/7 Town Mayor Jim Joyce-Nelson.

It is understood that Dot, who had been in poor health for the past few years, passed away in the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath on 5 May.

“Our condolences are sent to Jim and his family at this sad time, “said Town Clerk Julie Holden.

May Fair 2015

The East Grinstead Lions May Fair was a huge success, filled with crowds in the High Street from end to end for the whole day.

The performance stage in the Market Square saw a wide variety of acts greeted with applause from an enthusiastic audience.

A great deal of hard work goes into this annual event so a big vote of thanks to all those who give their time so generously.
