The Kingscote Valley

East Grinstead is surrounded by beautiful countryside, none more so than the area on the southern outskirts of the town; ‘The Kingscote Valley’. Sitting within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is an ideal location for those wanting to experience the ‘great outdoors’.

Walkers, cyclists and riders will find everything they are looking for with plenty of shared use pathways to explore and the more adventurous will find Tree walks, sailing, archery and climbing amongst the activities on offer. The less active will find plenty to interest them too; fine dining, wine tastings, a National trust property and accommodation options ranging from an Elizabethan Hotel to camping.

Our Medieval Market Town is a great staging post for your next adventure, so come on, what are you waiting for? Welcome to East Grinstead where we can help you discover our Valley secrets.

Lest We Forget

IN a regular feature on the Town Council website, we will be remembering, on the anniversary of their deaths, the East Grinstead soldiers who died during WWI,  and who are named on the High Street War Memorial.

DON’T leave that motor running!

Cold and frosty mornings when your car has been outside all night? A timely reminder from Sussex Police never leave your car unattended with the motor running and keys in the ignition.

Several instances of cars being driven away while their owners were inside their homes waiting for the car to warm up took place last week. Don’t risk it as your insurance will normally not cover thefts of this sort.

Ensure that your car is safe to drive with clear windows and mirrors and leave enough time to do this before starting your journey.

Help protect friends and family from unwanted phone calls

If you are worried about family and friends or perhaps a vulnerable neighbor being harassed by unwanted telephone calls, then look out for the next edition of West Sussex Connections due to come through our letterboxes on the 16th of January.

There are details of a new County wide initiative to assist with availability of telephone call blockers. You can also see details in advance here www.westsussex.gov.uk/callblocker

There is an online application form linked to the above page. As an alternative, to the above link you can also find the CAC’s phone number, 03454 04 05 06. They will then contact the enquirer back to assess eligibility

Council opens Christmas tree recycling points

Mid Sussex District Council has set up Christmas tree recycling points at convenient locations across the district to help residents dispose of their trees when the festive fun is over.

The Council has arranged for 25 temporary Christmas tree drop-off points in towns and villages across the district, so there will be a place nearby where residents can recycle their real Christmas tree. All people have to do is along their tree to the most convenient local site, place it in the marked bay and it will be taken away to be recycled locally.

Residents with a green garden waste collection bin can put their tree directly into it, as long as the lid can still close firmly. Alternatively, people can take their real tree along to one of the Household Waste Recycling Sites at Fairbridge Way in Burgess Hill or Imberhorne Lane in East Grinstead.

Sites will be open between Friday 30 December 2016 and Friday 13 January 2017 at the following locations.
