Park for £1 all day in Mid Sussex this Christmas

Mid Sussex District Council is encouraging people to shop locally and support their community by reducing parking to £1 every Saturday in December.

In the run up to Christmas, shoppers won’t have to worry about parking prices in specific long stay car parks across Mid Sussex. Mid Sussex District Council is providing discounted parking on Saturdays to support local shoppers and traders. As parking on Sundays is already free, it will cost just £1 to park in the Franklynn Road, Queens Crescent, Station Road, the Vicarage or Norton House car parks for the whole weekend.

East Grinstead Dementia Action Alliance Wellbeing Day

The EGDAA will be attending a wellbeing day aimed at persons over 55 on Friday 20th October between 10am – 3pm at Chequer Mead Arts and Community Centre on De La Warr Road, East Grinstead.

The day has been organised by the Mid Sussex Wellbeing team and is aimed at providing information to older residents about staying fit and well later in life. There are free health checks and assessments and people to talk to about services available.   One area where people can be affected as they get older is dementia and the EGDAA will be at the event to help raise awareness.

The East Grinstead Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) aims to make East Grinstead a Dementia Friendly Community so that we are able to help those diagnosed to live well for as long as possible.

Dementia affects over 2,000 people aged over 65 in the Mid Sussex area,  That is about 1:15 of people over 65 years of age.   Two thirds of people with dementia live at home and we are keen to ensure that while they can live at home they have as independent a life as possible.  This means that where we can make small differences in our approach to people as customers, patients, fellow public transport users, someone queuing in a shop we should. A little patience and understanding goes a long way.

Come along and talk to the DAA at the event, we can tell you where groups meet to help support people with dementia and people who have loved ones with dementia. We can tell you how your business can help support people with dementia and how you can help to spread the word.    We can arrange free sessions on dementia awareness for your group, family or friends.

You can find out more by contacting the East Grinstead DAA at the event or at the following website  http://www.eastgrinstead.gov.uk/projects/dementia-friendly-east-grinstead/
