IN a regular feature on the Town Council website, we will be remembering, on the anniversary of their deaths, the East Grinstead soldiers who died during WWI, and who are named on the High Street War Memorial.

This month we recall (as recorded on The Roll of Honour website):
Raymond J. C. BROOM
Sapper. 70242 Royal Engineers. 3rd Army Corps, Signals Company.
Died in France 14.12.16. Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Broom of 29, De la Warr Road, East Grinstead.
Born in Bromley, Kent and enlisted in Westminster.
Buried St. Pol Communal Cemetery Extension
Albert WEST
Private 40351 4th Battalion, The Worcestershire Regiment. 29th Division.
Killed in action on the Somme 7.12.16.
Born in Lamberhurst, Kent, and enlisted in East Grinstead. East Grinstead resident.
