THE East Grinstead Lions won the championship trophy in the Dream for the Streets Basketball Tournament held in Hastings on 15 February, against teams from Hastings, Eastbourne and Horsham.
The East Grinstead squad consisting of Filipino and British lads ranging from 15 to 23-years-old was established only a year ago, and finished fourth at last year’s event which was hosted by the town’s Filipino-British Association.

So it came as a real surprise when the team finished without a single loss this time around.
“Participation in sport is a great way to keep boys away from less healthy pursuits and we are very proud of their performance,” said team captain Job Rebustes.
The team was established thanks to Centre for Sight and Job Connections who have sponsored them from the beginning. “We owe the team’s overwhelming success to everyone who has supported them,” said Job.
“We’re all very happy right now.”
