Title: Fundraising is a piece of cake for East Grinstead care home

Date: Friday 29th September

Address: Mill View, Sunnyside Close, Dunnings Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 4QW

Details:

A local care home is asking the people of East Grinstead to join in with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 29th September to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

From 10am-1pm, Care UK’s Mill View care home on Sunnyside Close is inviting the community to join residents for a morning of coffee, cake and catch-ups to help raise money for the 2.5 million people living with cancer across the UK.

Guests will enjoy a relaxing morning sharing a cuppa with residents, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats - all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan.

The home will also be holding its very own bake off competition. Team members at Mill View will have their whisks at the ready as they cook up their tastiest creations which will be judged by the residents.

Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990, over £165.5 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

Home manager, Debbie Wheeler, explained why Mill View is taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning: “The difficulty of facing cancer is a problem most of us know far too well, whether through watching the struggle of a friend or family member, or battling the illness ourselves – so we understand the importance of the work that Macmillan does.

“This coffee morning gives us a wonderful opportunity to invite local people, family and friends to join us for a fun morning, while raising funds to support the vital services provided by Macmillan. It’s set to be a great event, and we hope the local community will join the Care UK team who will have been busy whisking up a storm!”
