East Grinstead Town Council is one of the most active parish or town councils nationally and an Investors in People accredited organisation as well as a Quality Local Council. East Grinstead Town Council is a Progressive Town Council, designated as a “larger council” by the National Association Of Local Councils due to our turnover of over £1m PA and breadth of services provided. This council is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

East Grinstead Town Council is an ‘Investors in People’ employer and is seeking an adaptable and flexible individual to take on a physical and demanding role for the following positions.

Bookings & Functions Administrator (30 hrs)

9-4 Monday to Friday £18,070 -22,658 pro rata 

This varied and rewarding position has arisen within the Town Council.  Working Monday – Friday 9.00 -4.00 with an hour for lunch, this varied role calls for a well organised excellent communicator.  As the role includes being present a wedding ceremonies, during the Summer months particularly, most Saturdays will also be worked as part of the weekly hours.     The role includes promoting the Town Council buildings for wedding party and event bookings, liaising with the parties regarding requirements for their booking and liaison with the in-house caretaking team.

The varied role also takes a role in the organising of caretakers rotas, answering general public enquiries and supporting the small team at the Council under the direction of the Estates Manager.

This is very much a front line role interacting with community groups and individuals, a pleasant manner, ability to prioritise and a genuine interest as working as part of a small team will be a distinct advantage.  The post holder will also need up to date IT skills to be able to develop, monitor and update the east court weddings promotions packs,  social media presence and content of the website.

Office Administrator (30 hrs)

9-4 Monday to Friday £16,781 -20,138 pro rata

This key position has arisen due to the former post holder retiring.  Working Monday – Friday 9.00 -4.00 with an hour for lunch, this varied role calls for a well organised excellent communicator.  The role includes organising the councils reception service, ensuring that there is adequate cover and being the first point for front line enquiries.  The Town Council is a busy office and there is much to do around post handling, filing, stationery orders as well as the public enquiries. From time to time support covering the duties of the Town Clerks PA and Town Mayors Secretary will be required.

This is very much a front line role interacting with community groups and individuals, a pleasant manner, ability to prioritise and a genuine interest as working as part of a small team will be a distinct advantage.  The post holder will also need up to date IT skills to be able to develop, monitor and update the councils social media presence and content of the website.
