The East Grinstead Coronation Parade

People around the country are being invited to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and, many others are busy making plans and getting ready for what is set to be a momentous event and a long weekend of celebration.

East Grinstead Town Council and many of our community groups are also busy making plans and, invite you to join with us to welcome in this new Carolean era.

In preparation for this event, the Council have purchased Coronation Mugs and has produced a Souvenir Programme listing events over the weekend. These are available to buy from the Community and Tourist Information Desk at the Library.

Saturday 6th May – Coronation Day

Starting with a ‘Monarchy through the Ages’ fancy dress walking parade, representing many of our wonderful community groups and schools. Leaving East Court at 9.00am and travelling through town via the High Street and London Road, over the footbridge and into King George’s Field.

The parade will arrive in plenty of time to watch the ceremony on a big screen. Bring a picnic blanket and come and watch. The King’s procession leaves Buckingham Palace at 10.20am and the ceremony service starts at 11am. The service finishes at 1pm. The King will process back to the Palace. There will be a fly by at 2.15pm.

There will be food and drink vendors all day at King George’s field and free children’s entertainment such as a bouncy castle and mini golf, sponsored by Step by Step School as well as fancy dress prizes at 2.30pm and a ‘Right Royal Dog Show’ at 2.45pm. The day will finish at 4pm.

Sunday 7th May – Coronation Big Lunch

A free to attend Coronation Street Party hosted by East Grinstead’s Being Neighbourly and East Grinstead Town Council. Lunch and live music from So Blues, Nic and Dave, XL and The Red Lion Band from 1pm – 5pm on the High Street. Bring your own chair and picnic or purchase lunch from our many restaurants and cafes.

Monday 8th May – The Big Help Out

Starting from King George’s Field at 10am until 12noon. Join in with our town litter pick. We will provide everything you need.
