Street Furniture And Miscellaneous Services
The Town Council, as the grassroots parish authority for the Town, has responsibility for a wide range of basic street furniture details as follows:
- Bus Shelters throughout the Town. Many of these are provided under license by More-O'Ferrall-Adshel.
- Town Clock in London Road
- Two War Memorials. One in the High Street and the other at East Court.
- Public Seats adjacent to the Highway. It should be noted that Mid Sussex District Council provides seats in parks and recreation grounds.
- Provision and Maintenance of Litter Bins adjacent to the Highway only. Mid Sussex District Council, the street sweeping and refuse authority, is responsible for emptying of all litterbins.
- Salt and grit bins
- Footway lighting. Although West Sussex County Council provides
the great majority of street lighting in East Grinstead the Town Council
is responsible for approximately 260 lights that do not meet full adoption
standards. West Sussex County Council manages these on an agency arrangement
basis for the Town Council. All streetlights, regardless of ownership,
are clearly numbered. Reports of lights that are not working can be made
to the WSCC Help Point at East Grinstead Library on 01342 300780, quoting
the location and street light number.
