Chequer Mead Theatre proudly presents for one night only, the ultimate tribute to the 1914 centenary commemorations of The Great War. The show, starring the very popular, talented and wonderfully entertaining Stephen Dunnett and Diane Moore , brings to the stage the most famous, well-loved tunes of the music hall days. The patriotic, roof raising melodies which carried us through the Great War, a touch of Vaudeville magic from across the Atlantic, and the popular wireless favourites of the 30’s and 40’s are all included in this spectacular show produced with one aim in mind- to create a fitting sentimental tribute to the life and times of one of the darkest centuries in British history but also respectfully pay homage to the people who lived through the dark days and ultimately suffered great loss! With great period costumes and a wonderful stage setting Stephen and Diane will recreate the songs of that golden age and take you for a spin down memory lane to ‘the good old days’ with all the sing along favourites we’ve come to know and love. Audience participation is allowed throughout and dressing in the style of the day is highly encouraged. So come on boys and girls, the more flamboyant the bonnets and the bigger the flat caps the better! And don’t forget your singing voices. You’ll most certainly need them in the patriotically uplifting, and hugely entertaining extravaganza of the year !
